Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) is the investigation of human conduct and cooperation in social, natural, financial and political settings. In the Western Australian Curriculum, the Humanities and Social Sciences learning areas involves four subjects: Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, Geography and History.

The specific HASS requirements outlined in the Western Australian Curriculum are taught in an explicit, purposeful and engaging manner, with the use of Oxford Atlas across all year levels. The students participate in History for one semester and Geography the other.

History develops students’ curiosity and imagination. It promotes the understanding of societies, events, movements and developments that have shaped our world.

Geography is a way of exploring, analysing and understanding the characteristics of the places that make up our world. There is a key focus on looking at interconnections between people and places. Local, national and global issues are studied.
